This record group consists of various administrative records of the Michigan Veterans' Facility of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The record group includes: minutes of the Board of Managers (1885-1937); special and general orders (1909-24, 1927-60), relating to the administration of the facility; payrolls of officers and employees (1908-14); population registers (1901-55) of the facility; register of visitors during national encampment (1905); and scrapbooks (1903-48), with newspaper clippings relating to the facility, Grand Army of the Republic, and other patriotic and veteran organizations.

The Michigan Soldiers' Home, established by Public Act 152 of 1885, was the direct predecessor of the State Veterans' Facility located near Grand Rapids, Michigan. The facility was created to provide general medical care and a place to live for indigent and disabled veterans of the state of Michigan who were honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces.
